Fibre and Fat
Fibre has often been described as nature's way of 'taking out the garbage'. The power of
plant-derived fibre has been well documented for years, however, there are limitations.
We need fibre for Colon cleansing and overall system health, but they are not known for
inhibiting the digestion of weight-producing foods, for example, burgers, ice cream,
fries, etc.
If you fall into the same category as most people in our society today, then you would
have to build your diet almost entirely on fibre, e.g. oat bran, whole wheat, unskinned
fruit and vegetables, etc. Not surprisingly, most people are unwilling to do this.
How Fibre Works
Fibre is a carbohydrate food component that is an essential dietary factor for maintaining
health. It binds to bile acids and carries the bile along with excess fats out of the
body. It also helps you to feel more full and therefore eat less.
It also acts as a bulking agent and speeds the transit time of the food we eat, which
keeps the intestines in good order, plus fibre aids digestion.
